Have you ever wondered how every WNBA team got its Logo? Well I did too! I decided to take an unreasonably long time to research each team and create this video. Hopefully you learn a thing or two, too! Each team is listed in the order that they were founded or became a part of the Women's National Basketball Association and I try and cover every logo the team has ever had! I hope you enjoy the history of every WNBA logo!

45:59 there is an SJ in the newer sharks logo. The S is the right fin and the J is the dorsal fin 💫
I gotta say the WNBA's logos have fallen off as a whole. Some have aged well like the Liberty, Aces, and Sun, but all in all they really feel very corporate. One of the reasons I had trouble getting into the WNBA was that the logos were just rather lackluster. Unfortunately the NBA is going the same direction.
Man, the late ‘90s to 2010 really were the dark ages of logo design. Dark colours, excessive detailing, radical redesigns. No wonder most teams went back to their ‘70s and ‘80s designs.
🚨📢 CORRECTION SIR: The Fever got their name from Caitlin Clark because she gets hot from 3 😂😂😂
People will say “oh oversimplification ruined all the logos”, but please, seriously go back and look the old ones, 90% of the new ones are MASSIVE upgrades. Especially with Seattle as well as all the original teams
I love my aces logo
Wow the monarchs logo was pretty awesome, rip
The Arizona Coyotes moved to Salt Lake City and will be known as Utah HC for the upcoming 2024-25 season, and the Los Angeles Kings changed their logo.
That pronunciation of “Les Canadiens de Montreal” was priceless 😂 botched every single word
♥️
Wow what original names, City names (state names) united FC or FC without united.
Of course the Toronto BlueJays aren't basketball but a very successful MLB team.
Okay?
Thanks for this wonderfully done video.
You Justin should Do another franchise Logos Video For The Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) They just finished their inaugural Season
19:05 …pretty sure that’s a sea lion
I miss the CHARLOTTE STING
can you do the g league please
1:56 I could be wrong, but I think the letter "s" in French is silent.
Who is here in the bruins centennial year
The Hope Memorial Bridge's Eastern end is a baseball's throw from Progressive Field (nee Jacobs Field), the Guardians' home field since 1994.
I love it! It’s such a good detail! Thanks for watching!
When the Orlando Miracle relocated to Connecticut and rebranded as the Connecticut Sun, they too in a way took the Miami Sol's franchise name and colors too since they resembled the color scheme of the Mohegan Sun Casino where the team was to be based.
Yeah that’s a good point! It’s almost 2 franchises for the price of one!
i hate the name guardians i would’ve liked spiders better
Spiders definitely would have had the history to it too!
I read that the Bruins held a naming contest and a lady employee from a department store won and the Bruins adopted the department stores colors of black & gold.
Me: *Buys the Tennessee Titans and relocates them to San Antonio and they become the San Antonio Oilers*
Haha haha thanks for watching!
The Clippers have changed their logo for the new stadium. It is a shame that they retained the Los Angeles location. Coulda, shoulda become the SoCal Clippers in this move. Separate stadium, acknowledge San Diego roots. Get rid of the worst logo in the league (potentially ever). All at once.
Yeah the new logos are pretty cool! I'll probalby have a video for it right before or at the start of the season!
21:25 Wow that may be the lowest hanging fruit I've ever seen someone reach for in a UA-cam video when it comes to jokes lmao (Which is obviously the joke but you had me for several seconds which made it hilarious. Well played sir)
haha i'm glad you enjoyed that! was definitely something I threw in there and have rarely had anyone comment on it, but it always cracked me up! 🤣
👍
Thanks for watching!
So sad that the WNBA which has mostly to this point struggled financially is currently expanding (2025, 2026 and again by 2028), meanwhile the NBA which arguably should have expanded about a decade ago is still yet to officially announce anything. Although I do suspect that LeBrons prolonged career is a factor in the delays.
How is LeBron holding back expansion? What even is the correlation? He’s not the fuckin commissioner😂
@@rickykozak58 - pretty sure you cannot own a team and play in the league (same team or different) at the same time.
Awesome video, appreciate you going back through old logos, ownership and relocation too.
glad you appreciated it! Thanks for watching!
What is a Raider? A Bronco is a horse. A Bengal is a tiger cat.
A pirate! 🏴☠️
on the expansion talk: IIRC it was supposed to be PDX/the Bay Area/Toronto/one other - PDX was supposed to come in first(this season in fact) but begged off since they couldn't commit to properly hosting games with renovations going on at the Moda Center
Ah that makes sense! Yeah the articles I had come across treated PDX as all but done, but I wasn't really certain what they were referencing!
It was a shame actually but considering the other option was playing games where the Remix do it wouldn't have looked good!
I like how it just says sun on it.
Its a good logo!
Glad to see a channel dedicated to the origins and explanation of each team across major sports leagues. And glad to see that there is a community of people who love learning about these things like me. ❤ keep them videos coming!
thanks so much! Glad you enjoy it!
The Utah Starzz logo with the way that star swoops at the bottom reminds me of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. As for the Las Vegas Aces, I had no idea Mark Davis owned the team now and what the heck was he thinking with changing the colors? It’s good as it was before instead of now it looking bland. The LA Sparks could’ve if anything changed the surfboard to a black color or the basketball itself being black with then yellow or purple stripes instead of simplifying it so much to what they have now. I think the Washington Mystics should’ve changed their logo to something different than the original, it could use an overhaul although it is at least decent. The current Minnesota Lynx logo looks great except they should’ve made the Lynx head facing to the right instead of the left. Out of the defunct franchises, the Sacramento Monarchs logo looks super cool and easily the best look out of those ones, too bad they couldn’t have still kept the team around. The Indiana Fever should do a slight change, maybe make the basketball have water drops coming out of it to make it have a hot appearance. The Atlanta Dream needed to only change the basketball itself instead of doing whatever the heck that is from what they changed it to. I had no idea there were new teams but the Golden State Valkeries logo kind of reminds me of the Pontiac logo when they were making cars.
the previous aces logo definitely felt more vegas to me! also definitely agree on the monarchs! Thanks for watching! Appreciate your thoughts!
For Toronto i suggest the eLiTe. With the LT for team owner Larry Tanenbaum plus a Logo i blue and with a curved T like the Toronto flag
A play on the Toronto flag could be really cool!
The early 60s redskins was not correct it had a single feather on the back of the helmet.
Nice
thanks for watchign!
I know The Yeti is the FrontRunner for the new team's name, but what about the Utah Buzz? It has nice pairity with our *other* team with the two Zz's at the end, and his history in our state being the name of an old minor league baseball team. It serves as a not to both our state nickname "The Beehive State" and our state motto "Industry" (get it, the BUZZ of a bee, the BUZZ of machinery...) The logo would be a stylized Bee enclosed with a buzzsaw with its head forming a U & T, its wings forming a "B" and the stripes on its abdomen forming Utah's odd step-stool shape.
I know Yeti is the current frontrunner for the new team, but what about the Utah Buzz It has nice pairty with our *other* team with the two z's at the end, and also has hostory within the state as it was previously rhe name of one of our minor leauge teams. It serves as a nod to both our state nickname, "the beehive state" and our state motto "Industry" (get it, the BUZZ of a bee, the BUZZ of machnery,) The logo would double down on the concept with a stylized honeybee enclosed within a Buzzsaw shape; the bee's head makes the U & T, its wings make a B, and the stripes on its abdomen form Utah's odd step-stool shape.
The MLS newest logo is excellent.
Are you thinking the new seattle one or the st louis fc logo? Both are pretty good in my book! Just made a follow up not too long ago on the seattle logo!
Now Boston needs to get in on this and have them name the Team, Boston Charm.
Charm would be a nice play on words for that team!
@JustinLearnsThings You didn't mention Cleveland changing their name to the Guardians.
Came out before that so I made a follow up video on my channel page!
Did you do this for MLB and NFL and NHL teams?
yes sir! and WNBA, MLS, and NWSL! Names and logos!
Toronto Freeze
that would make sense!
Great video, but let me add that the WNBA putting teams in the same cites as their NBA counterparts is one of the reasons why the league had teams that folded are relocated from the start, as a lot of these cites are 1 pro basketball cites, no matter the gender. Yes, a lot of teams were owned by NBA owners, and I understand that some people don't care for women's sports but the WNBA should have been use as a supplement for or as an extension of the NBA by putting teams in cities that do not have NBA teams, like Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Louisville, St Louis, Kansas City, San Diego, Jacksonville, Richmond (VA), Baltimore and others. They don't need WNBA in cites like Philadelphia or Boston (the Connecticut Sun can just change their name to the New England Sun and cover that whole region). I'm for equality, but that does not mean the WNBA has to be identical to the NBA.
I'd like to see a video of the NBA G-League logos explained one day.
Definitely on the list! Thanks for watching!
Hopefully Denver and Philadelphia get teams.
Could see those markets for sure. Kroenke seems down to add more teams that he owns always lol
@@JustinLearnsThingsKroenke would sell his own child if it made him an extra buck
Wouldn’t it be cool if you went international logos/names?
Definitely an idea! FIBA logos, etc. A lot to look into for sure!
Chicago Sky old logo a whole lot better!!!
Thanks for watching!
I was surprise you remind 30 minutes out of A league were half. The teams are just "Location fc" or "Location United" Everyone makes fun of them for that and I can assure you MLS fans hate it too!
Oh I know all about that! 😂 thanks for watching!
It better be the Toronto Pteranodons or Toronto Mosas
I think a dinosaur theme would be awesome!
